Donald "Beef" Chernisky

Donald “Beef” Chernisky, 61, of Pana, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born February 15, 1956 in Pana, the son of Bill & Mary (Spalding) Chernisky.
Beef graduated from Pana High School in 1974 and started working with the City of Pana on April 1, 1975. He became supervisor on July 1, 2007 and retired on March 4, 2016.
He was a member of the AFSCME Local 726 Union, Pana Knights of Columbus, Pana Eagles Club #4109, and the Pana Moose Lodge #1015, where he was named the 2016 Moose of the Year. He was also a founder of the Moondogs & Hilltop Bombers, and was involved in the Jimmy Lynch Memorial Tournament for 24 years.
Donald Chernisky married Brenda Irene Thompson on July 25, 1981 and they were married 36 years.
Beef is lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda Chernisky, Pana, IL and two sons, David Chernisky (Julia Taylor), Pana, IL and Brock (Sarah) Chernisky, Raymore, MO; grandsons, William Chernisky, Pana, IL and Dalton Francy, Raymore, MO and a granddaughter to be born in October; parents, Bill & Mary Chernisky, Pana, IL; brothers, Bill (Sherry) Chernisky, Greenwood, IN and Mike (Debbie) Chernisky, O’Fallon, MO; in addition to many nieces and nephews that loved him.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz & Rev. Johnie Sliger officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
