Margaret Ruth Cutler

Margaret Ruth Cutler, 93, of Pana, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Heritage Health—Pana. She was born March 29, 1918 in Pana, the daughter of Frank Allen Cutler, Sr. & Margaret Ruth (Coffey) Cutler. Margaret was a graduate of Pana Township High School, Class of 1936. She then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University and then a Masters in Music Education from Northwestern University in 1950. Margaret had taught in Marquette, MI, but also lived in Chicago, IL and Lincoln, NE. She first taught English and supervised music in small Illinois high schools, as well as in Michigan and Wisconsin. She also taught elementary school music methods at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. During World War II, Margaret worked in Chicago doing office work. Margaret was a member of Music Educators National Conference; American Association of University Women; Iota Kappa Lamda; National Education Association; and American Association of University Professors. She is survived by her brother: Frank Cutler, Westfield, NJ and was preceded in death by her parents.
