Frank D. Bertin

Frank D. Bertin, 71, of Pana, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center, Pana. He was born June 11, 1938 in Pana, the son of Frank and Frances Evelyn Coulter Bertin. Frank lived most of his life in Pana. He served in the U.S. Army as military police, and spent 36 months in Japan. Frank worked in southern Illinois as a crane operator in the strip mines. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed drawing pictures and building model ships. Frank was a lifetime member of Pana Elks #1261, who honored him with a living memorial on January 12, 2010, which was the first time this had ever been done. He was also a member of the Pana Eagles Club #4109, North American Hunting Club, Pana Senior Citizens, & Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. Frank was a life member of PGA Partners Club and North American Fishing Club, and a past member of Operating Engineers.
Frank is survived by his step daughter: Christine Brehm, Radom, IL; 2 step grandchildren; sister: Doris Nollman & husband Jack, Pana, IL; brother: Jim Bertin & wife Trish, Pana, IL; and 6 nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & step son, Clinton Smith.
Funeral Information
Cremation rights will be accorded.
A memorial service with military rites will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield at a later date.
