Doris Emma (Munie) Holthaus, 83, of Pana died Monday, February 22, 2010 in her residence.
She was born January 10, 1927 in Pierron, IL, the youngest of ten children of Arthur Paul & Emma Indermill Munie. Doris attended ten years of school in Pierron, and graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic High School, Highland. In her early years, she was a receptionist for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband Charles Holthaus Builder. Doris won many awards for her flower arranging, and she enjoyed gardening, needlework, sewing, music, painting, and crafts.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana; St. Patrick’s Council of Catholic Women; Pana Community Hospital Auxiliary; Oconee American Legion Auxiliary; Community Council for the Arts; Pana Home & Garden Club; and FortNightly Club.
Doris Emma Munie and Charles Joseph Holthaus were united in marriage on January 28, 1956 in Immaculate Conception Church, Pierron, IL.
She is survived by her husband Charles Joseph Holthaus, Pana; five sons: Edward Holthaus & wife Linda, Quincy; Timothy Holthaus & wife Phyllis, Pana; John Holthaus & wife Julie, Assumption; Robert Holthaus & wife Sonda, Pana; Michael Holthaus & wife Debbie, Pana; 22 grandchildren: Nathanael (Mindy) Holthaus, Amber (Brian) Hendrian, Mindy Holthaus, Brandee Achilles, Andrea (John) Schafer, Chris Holthaus, Wes Holthaus, David (Shannon) Holthaus, Sarah (Dutch) Minott, Jill (Bryan) Wiley, Rachael Holthaus, Joel Holthaus, Molly Holthaus, Abby Holthaus, Luke Holthaus, Mark Holthaus, Jessica Holthaus, Clint Epley, Tyler Epley, Meredith Epley, Elizabeth Epley, Hannah Epley; 7 great grandchildren: Sullivan Holthaus, Riley Holthaus, Daxton Holthaus, Elliott Hendrian, Olliver Hendrian, Claire Schafer, Charleigh Minott; and by her sister: Bea Kniepman, Highland, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Cyril, Norman, Quintin, Duane and Ernest Munie; and three sisters: Eunice & Cleda Munie, and Esther Lacy.

Funeral Information

Funeral mass will be Thursday, February 25, 2010 in St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Charles Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with rosary at 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to: a fund for a future handicapped annex on the south side of St. Patrick’s Church; Sacred Heart School, Pana; Pana Community Hospital Foundation.
