Esther Marie Tolbert, 66, of Pana died May 1, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1942 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Carl A. & Lucille Cecelia Burgund Hipp. She lived with her grandmother in St. Marie, IL until the age of 12. She was a graduate of Robinson High School, and later graduated from Decatur Beauty Academy. She had lived in the Tower Hill and Pana area since 1979. She was a LPN and worked in the Barry Nursing Home in Pana. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana.
Esther Marie Hipp and Thomas O. Tolbert were united in marriage in Flora, IL on June 9, 1961.
She is survived by her husband Thomas O. Tolbert, Pana, IL; children: Debbie Spencer & husband Chuck, Bloomington, IL; Carla Rich & husband Chuck, Mattoon, IL; Tacie Cook & husband Scott, Dawson, IL; 6 grandchildren: Taylor Spencer, C. J. Rich, Chase Rich, Matt Rich, Ryan Rich, Megan Cook; 1 great grandson: Levi Rich; and by her sister: Terre Zerkle & husband Fred, Dundas, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Information

Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don J. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
