Bernieta M. (Eilers) Funk Darst, 83, of Rosamond, died Friday, August 6, 2010 in Pana Community Hospital. She was born May 22, 1927 in Owaneco, the daughter of Edward C. & Bertha M. (Fikan) Eilers. Bernieta had lived in the area her entire life. She was a farm wife & homemaker, as well as a cook for Pana Schools and a CNA at area nursing homes. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pana, a volunteer for Faith in Action and was very involved in her family.
She married Cordell Ward Funk on March 28, 1947 in E & R Church, Ohlman. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1969. She then married Bill M. Darst on July 24, 1971 in First United Methodist Church, Pana. He preceded her in death in October 2000.
Bernieta is survived by her children: Margaret Mae Hofferkamp, Springfield, IL; Nancy Ellen Miller & husband Kenneth L., Rochester, IL; Timothy Duane Funk, Decatur, IL; 6 grandchildren: James Philip Hofferkamp & wife Heather, John Michael Hofferkamp, Bradley Kurt Hofferkamp, Scott Kenneth Miller & wife Jennifer, Lindsay Martin & husband Jim, Dr. Curtis Miller & fiancée Heather; 8 great grandchildren: Andrew James Hofferkamp, Thomas Michael Hofferkamp, Ian Joseph Hofferkamp, Emma Ruth Hofferkamp, Olivia Renee Miller, Walker James Martin, Wyatt John Martin, & Wade Kenneth Martin; and brother: John A. Eilers & wife Barb, Pana, IL. She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, Gerald Cordell Funk on April 15, 2007; & sister, Mary Jane Barding on January 25, 1999.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. David Hultberg officiating. Burial will be in Millersville Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
