Maxine Davis, 89, of Pana died Friday, January 6, 2012 in her home.
She was born March 4, 1922 in Beecher City, Illinois, the daughter of William Alexander and Della Myrtle (Kline) Matson. She was a graduate of Stonington High School Class of 1941.
Maxine married Joseph Terrell Davis on June 6, 1942 in St. Charles, MO before he was deployed to the Atlantic with the US Army Air Corps. She then worked at the Sangamon Ordinance Plant in Illiopolis. Her first love was her family; she was a homemaker and farmwife in the Moweaqua and Millersville areas. She loved gardening and raised beautiful roses. She cherished her constant and loving canine companion, Heidi. She was a member of the United In Faith Church of Pana. She taught Sunday School and VBS for many years, and was a Girl Scout and Brownie Scout leader in Moweaqua. She was a member of the Pana Day Homemaker’s Extension unit for 40 years. She also served as an election judge for many years.
Maxine is survived by her children: Terrell Wayne Davis and wife Sue of Pana; Sharon Dian Sprinkle and husband Larry of Washington, IL; and Linda Jo Blakley and husband Jim of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Valerie Lynch of Pana, Jeffrey Moore of Washington, IL, Trista Prince of East Peoria, Jim E. Blakley, Cyndi Richards and Christy Hunt, all of Taylorville; great grandchildren: Ross and Grant Lynch; Bryce, Hannah and Aiden Moore, Savannah and Jayse Prince, Noah, Grace, Joel and Isaac Blakley, Alli and Macy Richards, and Claire and Kelsie Hunt; sisters: Doris McLaughlin of Owaneco and Vivian Batty of Stonington.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on May 21, 2001; grandson Justin Andrew Davis on November 5, 2010; brother Donald Matson and by her sister Valera Korte.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2012 in United in Faith Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Marilyn Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, IL. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church.
