Shirley Tarvin, 76, of Springfield, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in St. John’s Hospital. She was born September 3, 1935 in Pana, the daughter of Victor Valentine & Pauline Josphine Dauchman Vanus. Shirley had formerly lived in Pana, but was in Lombard during her married life and later moved to Springfield. Shirley was a homemaker, was baptized Lutheran, and loved traveling & camping.
Shirley Vanus and Robert Tarvin were united in marriage on December 23, 1955 in Pana.
She is survived by children: Mary Michelle Tarvin, Springfield, IL; JoEllen Tarvin, Springfield, IL; Leigh Ann Tarvin, Springfield, IL; Valerie Kay Miller & husband Dave, Gays, IL; 3 grandchildren: Levi Miller, Champaign; Jeremy Miller & wife Alicia, Mattoon; Nyssa Tarvin, Springfield; 1 great grandchild: Taya Miller, Champaign. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on January 18, 1998; son Michael Wayne Tarvin in infancy; brother Robert Vanus; & sister Naomi DeBrun.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Feneley officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
