Helen Hardy

December 28, 1919 - February 15, 2010

Helen Hardy, 90, of Pana, died Monday, February 15, 2010 in Pana Community Hospital. She was born December 28, 1919 in Pana, the daughter of John and Cecelia Tokoly Hardy. A graduate of Pana Township High School, Helen lived her entire life in Pana. She had worked for Pana Refinery, which then became Louder Pipe Line. She then worked at BC King, and retired as teller from People’s Bank & Trust. Helen was also the secretary when Fr. O’Neill was at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Helen was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Pana Community Hospital Auxiliary. She had also belonged to the Catholic Daughters, and was a founding member of the Pana Pioneer Heritage Guild. She also delivered meals for the Pana Senior Citizens.
Helen is survived by her sister: Dorothy Groll & husband Robert, Pana, IL; nieces & nephews: Robert H. Groll & wife Kay, Tucson, AZ; Mary Groll, Glen Ellyn, IL; John Groll, St. Louis, MO; Tom Groll & wife Mariaedith, Tucson, AZ; David Groll & wife Peggy, Lake Dallas, TX; Steve Groll, New Berlin, IL; Dennis McCall, Rockford, IL; & Cynthia Sherman, Van Nuys, CA; and great nieces & nephews: Karen, Karl, Anna, Ella, and Madeleine. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Francis Hardy on October 16, 2002; sister, Nellie Sherman; & nephew, Terry McCall.

Funeral Information

Funeral mass will be Friday, February 19, 2010 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Don Cunningham, S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana.
