Melvin Lee Brown, 64, of Pana died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in Heritage Manor—Pana.
He was born January 23, 1944 in Pana, IL, son of Leon Aaron & Marcella B. Rhodes Brown. A graduate of Pana High School Class of 1962, he lived in Pana most of his life, although he traveled extensively. He was affiliated with Lighthouse Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church and was a member of Pana Moose Lodge and Pana Eagles. A dry waller by trade, he enjoyed music, playing the mandolin and fishing. He was a Cardinal baseball fan, was interested in Abraham Lincoln and Civil War histories and liked W. C. Fields.
Lee is survived by his children: Cheri Lynn Brown, Gainesville, FL and Dennis Ray Brown, Carlinville, IL; granddaughter: Jessica Lynn Brown, Gainesville, FL; brothers: Vernon E. Brown & wife Susan, Tower Hill, IL and Mark E. brown & wife Judy, Pana, IL; sisters: Rosie J. Dean & husband Bill, Oconee, IL; Janet L. Hattaway & husband Max, Pana, IL; C. Sue Sartore & husband Lonnie, Marion, IL; 9 nieces & nephews; 12 great nieces & nephews and 1 great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery, Oconee. Friends may call Saturday from 12 noon until time of service at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
