Margaret Mary Rowley

November 13, 1929 - November 24, 2017

Margaret Mary Rowley, 88 of Pana passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello. She was born November 13, 1929, Detroit, Michigan to the late George Nieman.

Margaret was a graduate of New Baltimore High School in New Baltimore, MI where she was raised. She lived her entire adult life in Pana, IL. Margaret was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Pana and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League in which at various times held every position on their board. She served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church, sold Avon, worked at Woolworth which was better known as the dime store, and Wal-Mart. Of these probably the most important was her first job here in Pana when she worked at the glove factory, because this is where she met the love of her life, Thomas. She was a very talented seamstress, making everything from prize winning Halloween costumes to Barbie doll clothes to prom dresses. She also enjoyed knitting, baking and watching Jeopardy.          

Margaret & Thomas Rowley were married on July 3, 1951 in Oceolo, AR. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1982. Margaret is survived by her children: Janette Lawson of Monticello, IL, Joanne (Al) Leonard of Pana, IL, and Jean (David) Henderson of Bentonville, AR; Grandchildren: Bob Kindermann III, Mary Kindermann, Kelley (Brian) Evans, Jeffrey Nieman (Emma) Lawson, Angie (Mike) Donnel, Ashley Leonard; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews including Arthur Kaherl, Deanna Wolschon, Darlene Bilbuyck, Douglas Kaherl, Patricia Nieman, George Nieman III, Ellen Nieman all of whom she was raised with like siblings. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; grandson, Timothy Rowley Lawson; siblings: Virginia Kaherl, Bill Nieman, George Nieman Jr. and a sister in childhood.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Terrence O’Brien officiating.  Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 until service time.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks the memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 208 E. 4th St., Pana, IL 62557 or the Alzheimer's Association, 2309 W. White Oaks Dr. Apt E, Springfield, IL 62704, but flowers will be welcome.
