Gene N. Gingrey

Gene N. Gingrey, 83, of Pana, died Monday, August 2, 2010 in Heritage Manor—Pana. He was born January 13, 1927, in Pana, the son of Floyd Gingrey, Sr. & Letha G. (Watts) Gingrey. Gene served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and lived in Pana his entire life, except while he was in the service. He had worked at Purity Bakery, Mallory’s, and retired from Pana School District in the maintenance department. He loved woodworking, arts & crafts, camping, and traveling. Gene was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana and Knights of Columbus, Pana.
He married Darlene Nagle on November 3, 1948 in Pana.
Gene is survived by his brothers & sisters: Donald Gingrey & wife Bertie, Taylorville, IL; Delmar Gingrey, Siloam Springs, AR; Max Gingrey & wife Rena’, Aurora, IL; John Gingrey & wife Nancy, Shelbyville, IL; Larry Gingrey & wife Rita, TX; Joyce Baylor, Muskogee, OK; and Thelma “Spud” Koontz & husband Wesley, Pana, IL; and sister-in-law: Florence Werner, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on November 26, 2008; brother: Floyd Gingrey, Jr.

Funeral Information

Funeral mass will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana.
