Robert S. Denbow, 94, of Pana died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Pana Community Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1916 in Pana, IL, the son of Elmer & Anna (Wolf) Denbow.
Bob was a graduate of Pana High School and attended Fleck Flying School in Springfield, IL in 1934. He worked for Curtiss Wright Corporation in St. Louis, MO from 1939 until 1943. After returning to Pana, he opened an upholstery business, Denbow’s Cushion Shop, and also ran a bottling company which bottled Julep Soda under the name of My Bottling Co. He retired in 1978.
He married Eva Yates in Clayton, MO on June 21, 1942. She died September 26, 1991.
He married Imogene Challens January 21, 1995 and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2007.
He is survived by his sons: Danny (Ann) Denbow, Waynesville, MO and Robert F. Denbow, Tower Hill, IL; daughter: Bonnie (David) Miller, Pana, IL; 8 grandchildren: Jim, Janet, Beth, Char, Jerline, Billy, Kimberly and Betty; 5 great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Speakman, Taylorville, IL; step children: Marla, Rich and Jim; 9 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and by his brother Lewis Denbow.
He will be sadly missed by Marla, Jennifer, Jacob & Matthew.
Funeral Information
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Mound Cemetery, Pana with Rev. Don Pease officiating.
