Richard Sherman Neece, 71, of Pana, died Monday, May 5, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was born March 31, 1937 in Pana, the son of Sherman & Hilda Hall Neece. Richard had lived his entire life in the Pana area, except for the time he served in the U.S. Navy in Japan. He had worked in construction for Borg Warner & GSI. Richard enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was a judo & karate instructor, and had been involved in both for 50 years. He was also a black belt in karate.
Richard married Eva Merrifield on July 16, 1960. They had been married for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife: Eva Neece, Pana, IL; brothers & sisters: Stella Stone & husband Bill, Cape Fair, MO; Hilda Buchanan & husband Gary, Cowden, IL; Don Neece & wife Jan, Pana, IL; Joe Neece & wife Fern, San Rayburn, TX; Carol Coleman & husband Jim, Somonauk, IL; Portia Fundis & husband Jerry, Springfield, IL; & Judy Jones & husband Mike, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brant Mitchell Neece; sister, Betty McKavety; & brother, Robert Neece.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
