Darleen A. Edwards, 79, of Pana, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born May 20, 1938 in Pontiac, IL, daughter of the late Willard & Florence (Stivers) Phipps.
Darleen had lived in the Pana area her entire life and was a member of the Pana First Church of the Nazarene. She had worked for Mallory’s and was a bartender & homemaker. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching western movies, and getting her hair done by her great niece, Angie Dressen. She also loved exercise and had taught classes at the senior center.
Darleen Phipps and Harold Dean “Dick” Edwards were married on October 30, 1977 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.
She is survived by her daughter: Debra (Kenny) Camp, Farina, IL; step children: Richard (Tina) Edwards, Springfield, IL; Cheryl Harms, Pana, IL; Gloria Hawkins, Bedford, IN; Brenda Willey, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren: Brandy (Todd) West, Lacy Hankins (Robert Rhoades), Jamie Hollamon (Bobby Everett), Andrew Edwards, Ruth Ann Edwards, Gideon Edwards, Abby Edwards, Zeb Edwards, Eli (Tara) Harms, A.J. Harms, Heath Harms, Kyle, Melissa (Jordan Stanley), Kenzy, Leslie (Caleb Hutson), P.J. Willey; 9 great grandchildren: Dylan Haines, Chandler Hankins, Cayden Hankins, Trinity Hollamon, Kaylee Hollamon, Leah Harms, Mathis Harms, Madaline Stanley, Edith Hutson; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Harmony & Sophia; brother: Dennis Phipps, Girard, IL; sisters: Barb (Charlie) Pope, Springfield, IL; Peggy Waddington, Omaha, NE; Ronda (Leroy) Leach, Pana, IL; numerous nieces & nephews; long-time friend, Joyce McKittrick and numerous close friends. She was also preceded by her sister, Hazel Frailey and brother, Wayne Phipps.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Pana First Church of the Nazarene at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Allen Ebbler & Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
