Joyce Rau, 65, of Pana, died Monday, April 21, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur. She was born June 1, 1942 in Decatur, the daughter of James Edward & Vera Lulu Eagleton Walters. Joyce moved from Decatur to Pana in 1970, and lived in Rosamond for the rest of her life. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, bingo, and gardening. She loved her family and sharing her faith. Joyce was a very giving person. She was a member of the Rosamond Community Presbyterian Church & VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Joyce married David Rau on September 22, 1973 in Pana.
Joyce is survived by her husband: David Rau, Pana, IL; children: Ron Shetler & fiancée Michelle DeWitt, Litchfield, IL; Earllena Shetler & fiancé Kenny Dever, Litchfield, IL; Roseanna Kronshagen & husband Chris, The Woodlands, TX; & Margaret Nimitz & husband Jason, Cleveland, TX; 10 grandchildren: Aleischa, Dustin, Alexis, Lloyd, Maria, Troy, Katelyn, Michael, Missy, & Marcy; 2 great grandchildren: Trysta & Ashlyne ; brother: George Walters, Montana; & special friend: Sue Scoles, Pana, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Stella Sarver, Patsy Hammond, & Meredith Ann Walters; & brothers: Carl Walters & Jim Walters.

Funeral Information

A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Hibbett officiating. Inurnment will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond. Friends may call Thursday 10:00-11:00 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
Cremation rights were accorded.
