Anna Marie Oakleaf
March 17, 1922 - December 22, 2009
Anna Marie Oakleaf, 87, of Pana, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Pana Community Hospital.
She was born March 17, 1922 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Mathew & Marie Cocagne Cunningham. She was a graduate of Niantic High School. Anna semi retired and moved to the St. Louis area where she helped her husband train race horses for 20 years and also sewed jockey silks. After her husband died in 1993, she moved to Pana where she lived.
She has been a garment worker at Osgood & sons and Martha Manning. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress.
Anna was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana and Pana Senior Citizens.
She married John V. Oakleaf on January 6, 1940 and he preceded her in death in November 1993.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Redding, Flagstaff, AZ; Bruce Oakleaf, Decatur, IL; Deanna Kay LaBell, Orlando, FL; and Linda Evans, Pana, IL 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother: Fr. Don Cunningham, S.J., St. Louis, MO; and sister: Lois Armbruster, Decatur. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Margaret Hartwig.
Funeral Information
Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 26, 2009 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Don Cunningham, S. J. officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Belleville, IL.
