Opal "June" Teter

Opal “June” Teter, 90, of Pana, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Pana Community Hospital.  She was born October 2, 1926 in Tower Hill, daughter of the late Thomas & Elda (Wade) Rueff.

June had worked at Mallory’s in Pana and cooked for the Pana school district.  She was also a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Tower Hill.  She loved cooking, listening to the birds, and nature, but most of all, she cherished her family.

June married Clifford Elwin Ukena on February 11, 1942 in Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1966.  She married Kenneth Edward Teter on July 24, 1976 in Tower Hill and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2002.

June is survived by her son: John (Tammi) Ukena, Tower Hill, IL; daughter:  Chris (Don Jackson) Ukena, Nokomis, IL; step children: Jeff (Sandy) Teter, Indiana; Kay Winter & Sharon Winter; 5 grandchildren: Ben (Shannon) Stalets, Chesapeake Bay, VA; Derek (Chris) Stalets, Pana, IL; Colleen (Dustin) Yeske, Nokomis, IL; Jamie Ukena, Costa Mesa, CA; Jared Ukena, Lakewood, CO; 3 step grandchildren: Brad Teter, Daniel (Aubri) Teter, & Ashley (Roger) Smith; several great grandchildren; and sister: Wanda (Jim) Jackson, Tower Hill, IL.  She was also preceded by her step son, John Teter; brother, Aubrey Rueff; & sister, Audrey Glick.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dick Wheeler officiating.  Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
