Robert “Mike” Pollman, 79, of Oconee, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born May 4, 1938 in Oconee, son of the late John & Pauline (Holthaus) Pollman.
Mike served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Oconee his entire life and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee; Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee; Knight of Columbus; and Holy Name Society of Oconee. Mike retired from Firestone and was a farmer. He enjoyed woodworking.
Mike married Marie Pastor in June 1967 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1994. He then married Dorothy Becker in May 2000 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee. She preceded him in death in February 2016.
Mike is survived by his children: Patrick (Theresa) Pollman, Waynesville, MO; Lisa (Mark) Cleveland, Hopedale, IL; Gregory (Kristin) Pollman, Elgin, OK; Anthony Pollman, Monterey, CA; & Maria (Michael) Nohren, Tower Hill, IL; 12 grandchildren: Catherine, John, Benjamin, Sarah, Luke, Emily, Allison, Jessica, Maxwell, Elizabeth, Hannah, & Carolyn; and sisters: Pauline (Charlie) Limper, Missouri; Louise (Roy) Arnold, Pana, IL; & Ruth Kinney, Pana, IL. He was also preceded by his sisters: Norma Pollman & Mary Mills; & brother, Lawrence “Pete” Pollman.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland Post #317 American Legion, Oconee. The rosary will be recited on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
