Everett Eugene Wafford

July 10, 1921 - January 23, 2012

Everett E. “Gene” Wafford, of Arab Alabama formerly of Pana, IL died Monday, January 23, 2012.
He was born July 10, 1921, the son of John Marshall & Susan A. McCleary Wafford.
After serving in the U. S. Army during World War II, he had worked in Oakridge, TN as a supervisor during construction of the atomic bomb. He was a retired coal miner and enjoyed racing midget cars, ham radio and training English & Iris setters.
Everett married Carolyn Annette Vaught and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2011.
He is survived by his daughter: Jan Henry & husband Buzz, Arab, AL; grandchildren: Wendi & Jimmy Crawford, Gary & Wendy Davis, Amanda & Heath Stidham, Andrea & Cody Baker, and Jason & Christie Wafford; great Grandchildren: Mitchell & Jennifer Crawford, Courtney & Jesse Clanton, Morgan & Nic Dunn, Andrew Davis, Sabra Davis, AJ Crawford, Anna Ray Stidham, Wil Stidham, Landyn Ray Baker; great-Great grandchildren: Stevie Clanton, Audrey Clanton, Jac Dunn, Crockett Dunn, Ava Grace Crawford, and Caroline Crawford; Bailey Wafford, Laney Wafford, and Riley Wafford; brother: John Wafford; and by his sisters: Charlene “Corky” Robson and Doris Conners.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sons: Dennis Wafford and Bobby Wafford; and by his sisters: Audrey Thompson and Helen Westfall.

Funeral Information

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Linwood Cemetery, Pana with Pastor Greg White officiating. Military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard.
