Bill Schloz, 86, of Pana died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center, Pana.
He was born September 13, 1921 in Pana, the son of William F. & Elsie H. Papenloehr Schloz. Bill was a graduate of Pana Township High School. He served in the U. S. Army in North Africa and attained the rank of sergeant. Bill was a Shell Oil distributor. He bought the Coast to Coast Store in Pana in 1960 and ran it until 1984, when he retired. Bill lived in Pana for most of his life except for a short time when he lived in Champaign. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pana and the Pana Lions Club. He enjoyed vegetable gardening. In his younger years, he would plant a huge garden, harvest it and give it away. He enjoyed his family especially his grandson Andy, his best buddy. He loved animals and was especially fond of Cassie, Tom, Kate and Andy’s dog which he dog-sat for.
On September 16, 1945, Bill was united in marriage with Carolyn Esther Satterfield in the First United Methodist Church of Pana.
He is survived by his son: Tom Schloz & wife Kate and grandson: Andy Schloz, all of Pana, IL; sister: Carolyn Hamrick, Champaign, IL; and by his sisters-in-law: Ruth Schloz, Urbana, IL and Jane Schloz, in the state of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn on October 24, 2003; son James Richard Schloz in 1979; daughter Mary Sue Brown in 2005; and by three brothers: Herb Schloz, Ronnie Schloz and Gene Schloz.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. In-Sook Hwang officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
