Ruth I. Rowley, 80 of Taylorville formerly of Pana died Friday, September 12, 2008 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
She was born April 29, 1928 in Rosamond, IL, the daughter of Roy & Vaudeth L. Ledbetter Stanton. She spent some time in Westin, Maryland, but lived most of her life in Pana area until moving to Taylorville 23 years ago. A homemaker, she loved cooking and was a great cook. She enjoyed all types of music, playing pinochle and belonged to several pinochle clubs.
Ruth married Robert “Dave” Rowley and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1985.
She is survived by her children: Gary Rowley & wife Mary, Percy, IL and Linda Schmedeke & husband Lee, Taylorville, IL; five grandchildren: Shad, Sage, Rock, Sean & Taylor; three great grandchildren: Bryce, Kaidence & Rylan ; sister: Frances Culley, Pana, IL; and by several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rodrick Rowley, and grandson Craig.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2008 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with Ava Witsman officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, IL. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
