Lafonda Leona Sanders

January 30, 1929 - August 29, 2017

Lafonda Leona Sanders of Pana, IL went to her eternal reward on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.  Lafonda was born January 30, 1929 in Herrick, IL to Sollie Lawrence and Rose Ann (Bland) Lawrence.  Lafonda was a life-long resident of Herrick and Pana.  She married Clifford Earl Sanders on November 19, 1949 and he preceded her in 1982.  

She worked for Mallory Timers in Pana and after her retirement, she did in home care for seniors.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, buying presents for her children & grandchildren, and taking care of others.  Her family was the most important thing to her.

Lafonda is survived by son, Cliff “Buddy” (Cyndi) Sanders of Moberly, MO; daughter, Kathy (Rick) Vorwerk of Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren: Chris (Debbie) Sanders of London, KY; Charles “Chip” (Rebekah) Sanders of Iberia, MO; Carina (Chris) Sloat of Columbia, TN; Joshua Vorwerk of Fargo, ND; Amber Andel of Fargo, ND; 9 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Kaitlyn, Noah, Seth, Emily Sanders of Iberia, MO; Staeton “Taet” Sanders of London, KY; Lars and Liam Sloat of Columbia, TN; and Westyn Andel of Fargo, ND; brother, Sollie “Bud” (Margaret) Lawrence of Pana, IL; and many nieces, nephews, & friends.  She was also preceded by two sons, William & Terry; her mother, Rose Ann (Bland) Lawrence; her father, Sollie Lawrence; brothers: Rob (Dorothy) Lawrence, Leon (Lucille) Lawrence, Tom (Elsie) Lawrence; and nephews: Roger Lawrence & Doug Lawrence.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Sanders & Pastor Chris Sanders officiating.  Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.  Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
