Roger E. Mills Jr.

Roger E. Mills, Jr., 71, of Pana, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
He was born September 26, 1936 in Pana, IL, son of Roger & Mamie Suider Mills, Sr.
He lived in Pana and Nokomis area, graduating from Nokomis in 1955. Roger served ten years in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Pana Sportsman’s Club, and was President of Retiree Union Local 146 Club for 18 years. He was a member of the Pana Honor Guard for military funerals. He had served as Commander of AmVet Post 44 and was Adjutant and treasurer for American Legion Post 168 for several years. He enjoyed golf at Ramsey Golf Course and had coached T-Ball in Pana for many years.
Roger married Sheila Beeson on July 15, 1959 at Camp LeJeune, N. C.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Mills, Pana, IL; three sons: Timothy Mills & wife Julie, Eagle River, Alaska; Roger “Rusty” Mills & wife Tammy, Pittsgrove, NJ; Daniel Mills & wife Mary, Pana, IL; 16 grandchildren: Justin Mills & wife Tiffany, Belleville, IL; Magon Mayberry & husband Kyle, Hawaii; Ryan Mills, Okinawa; Timothy Mills, Jr., Alaska; Christopher Carlen, Texas; Jamie & Eric Mills, New Jersey; Brittany Mills, Boston, MA; Brandon & Kayla Mills, Pana, IL; Merriam, Josh, Eric & Matt Parente of Alaska; 1 great grandson, Auron Mills, Belleville, IL; two brothers: Ron Mills, Langleyville, IL; Ed Mills, Singer, LA; and by two sisters: Margie Toppel, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Donna Cole, Pana, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Simpkins of Decatur.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in First Church of the Nazarene, Pana with Rev. Allen Ebbler officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana with graveside military rites by VFW/Amercian Legion/AmVets Honor Guard, Pana. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana.
