Lola I. Dilley

January 22, 1934 - June 22, 2017

Lola I. Dilley, 83, of Pana, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.  She was born January 22, 1934 in Robinson Creek Bottom to the late Harry & Mae (Boatz) Ditzler.

Lola lived in the Tower Hill & Pana areas her entire life and was a member of the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church.  She had worked as the secretary at Tower Hill Schools, wrote the “gossip column” resident news report for the Pana News, worked in the catalog department at JCPenney, bakery at Cummings grocery store, and was the clerk for the Tower Hill village for 7 years.  She loved flowers, cooking, gardening, flea markets, & collecting American Fostoria.

Lola Ditzler married Gerald “Jerry” Dilley on June 20, 1952 in Tower Hill.  He preceded her in death on August 19, 2015.

She is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Lloyd) Carroll, Tower Hill, IL; Sandra (Tom) Bennett, Rison, AR; Gloria (Steven) Spannagel, Shelbyville, IL; Connie (Dale) Trelz, Pana, IL; 9 grandchildren: Kimberly (Michael) Owens, Jeromie (Melinda) Taylor, Jamie Lynn (Michael) Bennett, Kristina (Dustin) Theiss, Andrew Murphy & friend Jamie, SSG Michael (Toni) Murphy, Andrea Spannagel (friend Brad), Jess Bennett (fiancé Kyle); Megan Trelz (friend Tyler); 15 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Dona Sims; and several nieces & nephews.  She was also preceded by 2 great grandbabies; 1 step-granddaughter; sister, Joyce Litz; and step father, Walter Garrett.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Archie Fox officiating.  Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be before the service from 9 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church, Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
