Defining the Terms

We find that there can be a lot of confusion about the various terms that are used by funeral directors. It is not really a different language but it does have some specific words. How might they apply to you? Below you will find definitions for the terms we use everyday. We are happy to answer any of your questions regarding this, or anything else about funerals. Please feel free to contact us at: (217) 562-2116 or mdfh@mdfh.com.

Pre-planning your funeral service is just that -- planning. It is organizing for your own death. The grief that is experienced when a loved one passes can be overwhelming, and the thought of dealing with all the details right at that difficult time can be daunting to family members. It is an inevitable event that comes to us all, and when we plan for that eventual day, it makes the lives of our loved ones so much easier. We will help you walk through the funeral or memorial service choices, casket options, and help you to design your service the way that you want it. We will take the confusion out of the process so that you can focus on the memories of your life, and so that your loved ones will be able to ease into that transition of your leaving this world. There is no financial obligation to Pre-Planning.

Other Terms

Pre-Funding means that you pay for your funeral in advance. Trust funds are invested in the Illinois Funeral Directors Association pursuant to the Illinois Funeral or Burial Funds Act. An insurance company can also be used for this purpose if insurance is the choice for your pre-arrangement. There are many plans to fit your needs. You can pay over time or all at once.

The state of Illinois tightly regulates funeral Pre-Paying. We abide by all State and Federal laws. Your funeral investment is protected under the guidelines set forth by all governing bodies.
